M2M becomes Reality
In the upcoming years M2M technologies will revolutionize the entire production process from design to delivery. To produce large quantities of defined products and store them will belong to the past. In the near future, the customer will determine his personal, individually produced product. And this future has already become reality as to be seen at CeBIT 2015 in hall 16 at ROBOCHOP. Here it was possible for visitors to design and order a personal product by mobile, individually produced by 4 robots, and delivered to any address worldwide. This process is enabled by state-of-the-art automation technology, m2m technologies and virtual information technologies.
Another m2m application field with groundbreaking new business models is the auditing of installations and predictive maintenance: ThyssenKrupp presented a connected monitoring system for elevators, minimizing downtimes, and with status-based maintenance.
Mandatory requirements for a secure, scalable data transfer between machines and devices are a common network standard and high-speed cellular networks, business and politics is working on.
A fascinating insight into the new opportunities by m2m technologies were given by the new business models of the 50 CODE_n CONTEST “Into the Internet of Things” finalists: from digital life to m2m “Industrie 4.0” to future mobility to smart city. No doubt, m2m is already changing our entire working AND living environment.
ERP Systems – The Backbone of M2M “Industrie 4.0”
ERP systems are the fundamental backbone and control centre of all future-oriented digital processes of manufacturing companies, collecting and analyzing data along the whole supply chain, and enabling the transition from data to value. Efficient, flexible, agile, cloud-based ERP systems are the answer when it comes to digital order management with end-to-end transparency along the entire supply chain, to the optimization and efficiency of manufacturing and operations, to paperless processes or to seamless interfaces in the eco systems of companies. The RWTH Aachen university has been showing a production line model of a digital order management process between suppliers, manufacturers and vendors, realized by using fischertechnik at hall 5.
