April in Mailand (www.m2mplusforum.com) eingeladen. The next industrial revolution and energy transition driver“ halten.

M2M becomes Reality
In the upcoming years M2M technologies will revolutionize the entire production process from design to delivery. To produce large quantities of defined products and store them will belong to the past. In the near future, the customer will determine his personal, individually produced product. And this future has already become reality as to be seen at CeBIT 2015 in hall 16 at ROBOCHOP. Here it was possible for visitors to design and order a personal product by mobile, individually produced by 4 robots, and delivered to any address worldwide. This process is enabled by state-of-the-art automation technology, m2m technologies and virtual information technologies.
Another m2m application field with groundbreaking new business models is the auditing of installations and predictive maintenance: ThyssenKrupp presented a connected monitoring system for elevators, minimizing downtimes, and with status-based maintenance.
Mandatory requirements for a secure, scalable data transfer between machines and devices are a common network standard and high-speed cellular networks, business and politics is working on.
A fascinating insight into the new opportunities by m2m technologies were given by the new business models of the 50 CODE_n CONTEST “Into the Internet of Things” finalists: from digital life to m2m “Industrie 4.0” to future mobility to smart city. No doubt, m2m is already changing our entire working AND living environment.

ERP Systems – The Backbone of M2M “Industrie 4.0”
ERP systems are the fundamental backbone and control centre of all future-oriented digital processes of manufacturing companies, collecting and analyzing data along the whole supply chain, and enabling the transition from data to value. Efficient, flexible, agile, cloud-based ERP systems are the answer when it comes to digital order management with end-to-end transparency along the entire supply chain, to the optimization and efficiency of manufacturing and operations, to paperless processes or to seamless interfaces in the eco systems of companies. The RWTH Aachen university has been showing a production line model of a digital order management process between suppliers, manufacturers and vendors, realized by using fischertechnik at hall 5.

Logistik ohne IT ist heute praktisch undenkbar.

Februar 2014.

Dusseldorf, 12-October 2011. Within only one year people all over the world have marked more than 120,000 locations in wheelmap, the online map for wheelchair-accessible places. Intension of this offering is to assist wheelchair users, in Germany alone 1.6 million, as well as wheeled walkers and families with buggies, in their daily life. The page has been updated continuously and is now available in 11 languages. Wheelmap is available as free app.

The simple and successful idea attracted the attention of Google searching for a suitable project for its campaign “ the web is what you’re making out of it” to market Google Chrome. Since October 4 the campaign can be seen on tv. Talking with .BCNI, Raul Krauthausen, the initiator of wheelmap, was very pleased about thousands of new entries since the campaign has started.

If you’re interested to send suitable places to wheelmap, please find the site here: www.wheelmap.org.

Duesseldorf, 12-Oct-2011.

(Quelle: EU)

Radio frequency identification (RFID) has expanded to the commercial sector in the past few years, where it is now used to track and plan the flow of goods with greater precision. RFID is especially helpful to accelerate and increase the transparency of logistical processes (determine the location of goods and shipping containers in real time), identify shipping errors early on, minimize identification errors and provide better information throughout the value chain. This yields demand-optimized production, more effective utilization of shipping containers, lower inventories, greater availability of goods (lower out-of-stock rates), permanent inventory control and improved anti-theft protection while lowering personnel and warehousing costs and offering customers a wider array of services. This puts RFID in the class of “enabling technologies,” which rely on concepts such as efficient consumer response (ECR), supply chain management (SCM) and collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR) to bridge the various levels in the economic process.

San Francisco, September 27, 2010. For enterprises seeking to do business in Europe, choosing the right location is a key success factor. The same applies to enterprises that wish to expand operations to another location. Choosing a business location in the EU27 is not a decision to be taken lightly. The location you choose will have a lasting effect on cost factors such as transport, wages, property taxes and business taxes. The business location also affects your bottom line through sales factors such as purchasing power, demographics and competition.

Germany with most metropolitan regions in Europe
An important factor for most industries is whether a particular location is part of a metropolitan region. Metropolitan regions tend to offer excellent infrastructure and an educated population and are frequently home to major companies, public authorities and organizations. This makes them magnets for innovation and hubs for the exchange of goods and expertise.

A recent study on EU cities found a wide disparity from country to country. Germany, with 22 metropolitan regions spread out across the entire country, was the clear leader. France took second place with only 4 such urban centers.

San Francisco, September 17, 2010. Solar Millennium, a power plant construction company based in Erlangen, Germany, is heading a joint project with U.S. oil giant Chevron to develop four large solar power plants. Construction of two plants is set to begin by the end of 2010. The solar thermal plants, located in Blythe, California, will have a combined capacity of some 1,000 megawatts. This would be the first time a solar facility reaches output levels comparable to nuclear power plants. The plants are scheduled to go online in 2013 or 2014.

Until recently, interconnectivity in the business world was still limited to exchanging e-mail or interactively linking two locations through large-scale, comprehensive and expensive IT projects. But increasingly, smart and agile solutions are showing the way forward by allowing real-time collaboration, transparent approval processes in real time, video conferencing, Web conferencing—all through secure, encrypted solutions. Such technologies are all part of the daily routine for Business Consulting Network International.

.BCNI International has made collaboration in smart, continually evolving .BCN networks an integral part of its core philosophy from the beginning and continues to promote these approaches. .BCN relies on state-of-the-art IT solutions and offers this same collaborative technology to its clients. Pharmaceutical companies face tremendous challenges amid rising costs for research and development of new drugs and a declining number of new market-ready medications. The competition is further heightened by new market players and generic drug manufacturers. The latest reports give an idea of how turbulent the times are:

Organon
Organon, the second-largest maker of contraceptives, has been largely split up in recent years due to two takeovers by large U.S. corporations. Organon will lose its entire research sector along with half the 4,500 jobs at its headquarters in Oss in the Netherlands. The original owner, Akzo Nobel, first decided to focus on chemistry and sold Organon to Schering-Plough. Schering-Plough then merged with Merck & Co. in 2009. Merck & Co. is expected to shed some 15,000 jobs around the world.

U.S. Justice Department Looks at Big Pharma
The United States Department of Justice is investigating pharmaceutical companies as part of an anti-corruption initiative. Investigators are looking into entertainment expenses, licensing agreements, donations and consulting fees. So far, they have contacted Glaxo SmithKline, Pfizer, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Eli Lilly and Merck.

Sanofis-Aventis Eyes Genzyme
Despite last year’s scandal involving contaminated drugs, no less than three pharmaceutical companies are interested in buying Genzyme: Sanofis-Aventis, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson. The reason: from the start, Genzyme focused on developing medications to treat rare, genetically determined diseases. The development is so cost-intensive that generic drugs are not feasible.

Generic Drugmaker Stada Seeks Buyer
Stada is offering itself as the last chance for pharmaceutical companies to enter the German market, the second-largest after the U.S. Teva just acquired its competitor Ratiopharm for €3.6 billion.

Introducing the third dimension is intended to greatly simplify the increasingly complex user interface of smartphones, with their utterly endless apps and customization options. Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia and U.S. chip maker Intel plan to develop 3D software and virtual worlds for cell phones. A new research center in Oulu, Finland, is dedicated to studying the technical possibilities for displaying the remote party in 3D.

Nokia and Intel combined their two Linux-based operating systems into a version called MeeGo, designed to serve as a platform for new product developments. The first tablet PC running on MeeGo is to be presented at Berlin’s IFA consumer electronics trade show in early September. This would be a strategically important success over rival Apple.

Solar Millennium Postpones Interim Report

Solar Millennium, the German solar power plant developer that made headlines for alleged accounting tricks, postponed the publication of its latest quarterly figures. A revised publication deadline of September 13 was announced. The Bavarian company, a stakeholder in the German industry’s desert power initiative, covers the entire value chain from project development and financing to the ownership and operation of solar thermal power plants.

Solar Module Manufacturer Solon Still in the Red

Solon, the German manufacturer of solar modules, is still in the red despite the boom in the photovoltaic industry. CEO Stefan Säuberlich attributes this to inherited problems, however, and anticipates balanced operating income and expenses in 2010.

Bosch Solar Energy Continues Growth Trend

Bosch Solar Energy AG has inaugurated the first phase of the new production facility for crystalline solar cells in Arnstadt, Germany. The new production facility will create additional capacity for 10,000 cells per hour—or some 90 million annually. Some 1,100 new jobs are expected. Bosch plans to invest about €530 million in the Arnstadt site by 2012. Bosch Solar Energy AG plans to nearly triple its nominal capacity for crystalline solar cells to some 630 megawatts and move forward aggressively on its growth trajectory.

France Cuts Solar Subsidy in September—Sunny Forecasts in U.S., China, India and Japan

A new setback for the solar industry: After Germany cut its subsidies, now France intends to lower the price it pays for solar power. Several French newspapers are reporting cuts of 12% effective September 1. Les Echos also reports that the government plans to limit the subsidy to 500 megawatts starting next year. After the German cuts, France was considered a ray of hope for the photovoltaic industry. Cutbacks are also planned in the key solar power countries of Italy and the Czech Republic. The stock prices of solar companies plunged on August 24. Meanwhile, the photovoltaic markets in the U.S., China, India and Japan offer new growth potential.

Lull for Wind Energy

Denmark’s Vestas, the global leader in wind energy, shocked the markets when it reported €119 million in net losses. The wind energy sector is still reeling from the effects of the financial crisis, which made it more difficult to secure financing for wind farms around the world. Postponed orders from Germany, the U.S. and Spain—three of the most important wind energy markets in the world—were a severe blow to Vestas. German competitors such as Nordex and Repower complain of similar difficulties but managed to avoid slipping into the red.

The wind energy business in Europe is sluggish. Some markets, such as Spain, have rolled back subsidies for this type of renewable energy. The German market is stagnating at best. The industry association is predicting a volume of 38,000 megawatts of installed capacity on the worldwide market, less than last year. The reasons: The construction of offshore wind farms is coming along more slowly than expected. Many European countries prefer to first put their budgets in order. New drilling and extraction technologies in the U.S. have yielded much greater volumes of cheap natural gas than was available just a few months ago. That makes gas power plants more attractive to investors than wind farms. The United States is the largest single market for wind power, with 22% of the installed worldwide capacity in 2009. Germany and China each has a 16% share, Spain has 11% and India nearly 7%.

Renewable Energy as a Revenue Source for Hard-Hit Cities

A recent study finds that the strong growth in energy production from wind and solar facilities has brought more and more revenue to German cities. The first systematic study estimates that renewable energy in Germany accounted for €6.6 billion in regional added value in 2009. Many regional energy providers, having invested large sums to switch to renewable energy under the terms of the original timetable for phasing out nuclear power in Germany, are calling upon the federal government to abandon its plans to relax this timetable and keep nuclear power plants online longer.

Most businesses now consider green IT to be an important topic. The reasons for this are varied—from cost savings to political correctness to tax breaks. The focus is usually only on deploying energy-efficient servers and equipment, however, and even here the approach is ad hoc. Hardware and computer centers are the first areas that companies associate with Green IT.

Check out the expert article, which outlines the technical possibilities already available today to be both “green” and highly efficient at the same time.

Dusseldorf, June 29, 2009. Summarizing a study of current results in neural research, Business Consulting Network International found that the use of different media brings about changes in the brain. This is based on the verifiable fact that brains develop according to how they are used, especially if the activities are carried out with an emotional commitment. In such cases, the emotional centers are activated and neuroplastic messengers are released, reinforcing the neural connections used for the activity in question. The result is that regulated performance of a particular activity sets up “paths” along which the neurological processes flow ever more smoothly.

When it comes to marketing strategies, this means making further use of findings on the psychology of selling. Depending on the target group in question, the results of neurobiological research can be used to draw up advertising campaigns that are even better targeted.
