Ontario, May 2011. With its 35 nation states and some 600 million people, Europe is one of the world’s largest markets. This enormous and diversified economic region offers a wide array of opportunities for enterprises with an international outlook. Europe accounted for a third of global economic output and nearly 40 percent of worldwide trade in 2009.

Agriculture, food and beverages – Europe is growth market for high-end convenience and organic products
Exports in this industry currently consist primarily of wheat, soybeans, flax, legumes, shrimp and lobster. The EU is also the second largest buyer of maple products. But this highly developed market still holds many more opportunities that Canadian firms can exploit to sell their products.
